Tourist Attractions at Pigeon Forge

The area around Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is loaded with vacation attractions. Depending on what you and your family's interests are you can go to several different places to see a show. Some are country western, and some from the 50s and 60s.

If science is your interest you won't want to miss WonderWorks. If you drive down toward Gatlinburg you can visit the Rain Forest Zoo or the Aquarium. To view the area from above, you can take a helicopter ride to see the grandeur of the Great Smokies.

The
Dollywood Theme Park is in the Pigeon Forge area. It is open from late March to early January. There are many great rides including the latest roller coaster which is a "wooden", $7 million dollar thrill called the Thunderhead.  One whole section of the park is "just for kids" with Timber Canyon, Mystery Mine roller coaster, the Tennessee Tornado which is just around the bend from Wilderness Pass, and the new Adventure Mountain.  Adjacent to Dollywood is Splash Country for all the water rides you can imagine...The kids won't be bored.

Many musical groups play in the park including country western, rock and roll, bluegrass and Southern gospel music. Throughout the year they put on various festivals including a KidsFest in the summer, a National Gospel Harvest Celebration in the fall and, of course, A Smoky Mountain Christmas for the holidays. The theme park has many good restaurants featuring Southern cooking.

After a busy day and time to dine, entertainment can be found in the dinner theaters such as Dixie Stampede, The Fiddler, Black Bear Jamboree, magic shows, impersonators such as Elvis and the Comedy Barn for a barrel of laughs.

Now that spring has arrived there will be all manner of festivals like the Scottish Highland Games, The Fine Arts Festival, Storytelling contests just to mention just a couple.

The Aquarium is always a big hit located in Gatlinburg and now Pigeon Forge has a new attraction called The Titanic which is a replica of the original in a scaled down version with many interactive activities on board.

Whatever your recipe for fun, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg has the ingredients to stir up a perfect Smoky Mountain getaway.
